Retro

Been playing lots of games and not finishing lots of them either it seems.

Crystalis

This little RPG is awesome.  Sadly, I got near the end of the game and due to a mistake on my part with savestates I ended up taking on a boss when my level was too low and the only solution was utter failure.  So sadly, I didn’t finish.  I’m disappointed so it’ll be a while before I try again.

Faria: A World of Mystery & Danger!

I like the premise of this game.  It’s a mish mash of many old school RPG elements that I think create a whole greater than the sum of its parts.  The most notable similarities are Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and The Legend of Zelda.  There are random battles, but they are fought in Zelda style, but in a separate area from the overworld map.  The biggest problem was the difficulty.  The game is brutal.  I gave up on it for now.  It’s going to require a walkthrough I think.  I spent hours walking through the first dungeon.  I then sketched out a map of the first dungeon to help myself.  It was huge and there ultimately were several one way doors to a single area that I just couldn’t figure out how to enter.  I could see myself enjoying it later when I have some more free time.

Kid Icarus

I’m trying to play this one now.  It’s a classic that I’ve only dabbled at.  Finally playing it I’ve found it pretty enjoyable.
